500ml bottle conditioned ale bought at the great St Albans Beer Festival 2005 (going back there this year). The beer has a deep mahogany colour topped with a medium lasting off-white, thick head. Inviting sweet aroma of caramel malt. Full bodied. Rich flavours of dried fruit, hops and roasted malt. Solid bitterness in a lingering aftertaste. Very tasty after more than nine months in the cellar.

Dark amber color with a small, light-tan head. Enticing malty nose that hints at sweet caramel, fruits with a slight touch of earthiness. The flavor starts sweet — breads, caramel, nuts — until the hop flavor punches through with a tasty bitterness. Medium body, smooth feel. Fairly long, dry and bitter finish. Very enjoyable.

Pours a brown color with a big head that eventually settles to a film. As the head drops, it leaves some nice lacing on the way down. Aroma is fruity and toasty. Mild mellow flavor. Has some sweet esters. A very smooth medium to full bodied beer. A must try.

Aroma is a caramel and orange-sodden punch in the face. Flavour bittersweet chocolate-orange drenched in alcohol. Finishes with a lingeringly dry bitterness. Pleasantly toffeeish in the nose. Deep reddish-brown body with a lasting head. Aroma and flavour-wise could easily pass as a Belgian Tripel of a higher ABV, but a liitle too syrupy and unsubtle to be guzzled by the English pint.

Reminded me of the Black Sheep beer I had. Poured a ruby-brown color with a normal head that didn’t last long. Lacing was minimal but present. Flavor was fairly sweet with a nice hoppy finish (not overdone, but not really balanced, as malt sweetness overpowered the hops).

Bottled. Pours a beautiful dark caramel body with a big head. Strong dark/burnt chocolate/coffee taste. Pretty good!

Pours a deeply hazed, amber caramel w/ a full creamy froth. Aromas of fruited flowers, caramel and leather. Big, viscous nectar w/ mellow residual effers, almost flat. Flavors are strong and rustic, including new leather, bitter caramel, toasted citrus rind, and tobacco. Finish is long and bittering. Overall: I was surprised and impressed. I love this stuff, awsome! Highly recommended.

Murky orange brew. Treacly head. Nose is toasty. Excellent mustiness. Dried apricots without the acidity. Old leather. Toasted malts. Flavors are musty and sweet at first. Then bitter and tanniny. Leather abounds. This one has the mustiness other beers like Thames Welsh ESB and other sorts of bottle conditioned products from Britain try to have. Mouthfeel is too spritzy to call itself a real ale. Good beer
