KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jun 8, 2009 Cloudy reddish amber with medium beige head. Rotten vegetables hit my nose along with some bloody awfull malts. Flavour was sweet with malt, caramel and floral hops. Had some earthiness to it. Mild bitter stuff. WVHouseofBeer (339), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA May 29, 2009 Poured a dark copper color with minimal white head. Taste is excellent with a slightly fruity aftertaste and smell. This is definitely my favorite English Strong Ale, and one of the best Fullers brews. TaxiDriver (908), Stadland, Germany May 25, 2009 Rating Nr. 800. Bottle. The aroma is light bitter, light sour and malty, also flowery. The head is small, light beige and creamy with a normal duration. The body is clear, dark red and lively. The first taste and the finish is quite bitter, the middle part is more flowery. The finish is very long. The beer has a normal carbonation with a medium strong body and is dry and creamy. A very nice Ale. Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA May 23, 2009 What a gem of a beer. Beautiful spicey malt profile thats about as good as any I’ve ever had. Wet bulging over ripe dark fruits balanced out by pepper and earthy notes like nutmeg and hot honey. Tons of flavors floating around in this one, and that soft bouquet of hops thats behind all Fullers beers is very potent in this one. A great beer. nate2g (1034), Brisbane, Australia May 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours amber with a creamy head. Roasted malt, caramel, dried fruit, nuts and earthy hops. The malt is well balanced with a clean hoppy finish. A delicious beer. madvike (301), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 1, 2009 Bottle - Pours deep, cloudy amber with a nice frothy head. Aroma is wonderful, with caramel, sweet malt and a nice smooth bourbon. Taste doesn’t quite pack the punch of the smell. I get roasted malt with caramel and toffee notes. The malt is a little off, as there’s some bitterness that kind of comes in waves. It’s hard to describe, but it’s not as smooth as it should be. This is pleasant to drink and nice and creamy. I wasn’t super-excited to pull this out of the cellar, but it exceeded my expectations. nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 29, 2009 The aroma is sweet with caramel, yeast, fruit, and grassy hops. The appearance is amber with a large foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter sweet finish. The palate is OK for the style. Overall a good beer but not great. Tweety (337), Vancouver, Washington, USA Apr 28, 2009 Just a great English ale. Could drink this one all day (or all night). Always a good standby since it’s so widely available.
