Mild, caramely and malty aroma with woody and nutty hops. Roasted-malty, caramely flavor with a long, dry, woody-hoppy finish. Sticky, bitter and dryish mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with soft carbonation. Surprisingly roasty, dry and full for a British ale with features from porters and dry stouts. Not bad at all. Dedollewaitor (3764), Odense, Denmark

Aroma smelled was musty with a hint of light fruit and grape bubblegum. Dry hoppy flavor but as I worked my way down the glass it turned to a sweet alcohol taste to it. Given the reviews I had higher hopes. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Taste is quite nice: a mix of fruit typical of an English beer, but with a hit of the wood taste one might expect from some Scotches. Malt and hops make their appearances. A wonderful offering from Fullers, and my 200th tasting! gunnfryd (3603), Kristiansand, Norway

Has a small lacey head of beige/light brown.
Begins somewhat sweet and I am thining, lots of fruit, but then out of nowhere, the body shifts gears and towards the finish I am tasting tons of hops. This beer makes the Vintage Ale seem like a unbalanced mess in comparison. This is supremely balanced, very soft and perhaps not as challenging, but magnificently flavored and balanced. Tastes of cherries, oak, and has a nice deep dry hops flavor that comes out. Alcohol flavor is hinted at and by no means dominant. The initial taste has some zesty spices, not heavy, almost tending towards herbal/licorice, but sweeter and more caramel/candied. Well I liked this beer, and it is certainly a nice alternative to the much more stern and alcoholic Vintage ale from Fullers
