(Bottle, Spaniard’s Inn, Hampstead, London, 6 Aug 2007) Clear reddish brown colour with firm creamy brownish yellow head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, chocolate, generous amounts of earthy hops and notes of fruitcake. Malty taste with dark fruit, raisins and earthy hops in a long bitter finish. Balanced sweetness, medium to full body. Nice balance between malt and hops. Great beer.

[760-20071013] Bottle (w/ jerc). Boozy chocolate malt aroma. Clear, dark brown amber body with a long-lasting foamy light tan head. Boozy malt flavour has a bit of a vegetable background. Medium body. Nice malty brew.

Bottle: Very matly fruity aroma, almost fruit punch-like aroma. Some caramel in the nose as well. Pours a nice transparent reddish-orange with a small tan head that has a fair amount of retention. Taste is sweet and malty, fruity, some caramel, and a little hops. Finishes with a little bitterness. Leaves a moderate sweet and very slightly bitter taste. Great balance. Very good beer.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Reddish-amber colour with a decent off-white head that left lots of lacing. Aroma of caramel, nuts, dried fruit and spice. The flavour was sweetish, with red cherries, mores nuts, some wood and nutmeg. The finish was dry with some earthy hopping. Excellent.

It’s sure to be a busy weekend, as my company gave me Friday off for "March Madness"! I don’t even watch basketball. Label read: Best Before 20/JUN/06 Appearance: Pours out a lovely amber hue with a creamy ivory-colored head. Smell: Ahh. The scent is sharp and lively. Sweet caramel malts AND fruity alcohol esters??! The aroma lineup just improved significantly! Taste: Here’s my take on 1845 (the beer): Initially sweetish, with hints of caramel and butterscotch. Also, it’s got some notable biscuit flavors. Plus, it’s got some fruitiness (cherries, for me)! Doubleplus, there’s some spicy, bitter hops in the finish. All in all, there’s alot going for this beer and alot going on IN this beer. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. The mouthfeel is both sparkling and creamy. Drinkability: Pretty decent. All this and more in....a bottle of Fuller’s 1845!!!

Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle, this beer has a huge creamy/rocky/fizzy beige head with beautiful lacing atop a clean reddish copper colored body. The aroma smells like a strong cinnamon stick and gingerbread cordial. Do they make such a thing? Perhaps not, but this beer kinda smells like it. Alcoholic walnuts and green maraschino cherries. Light green tobacco. Very strange aroma. The flavor has a finish of chocolate and is initially chicory coffee. Bitter malts/hops. Perhaps a little over-roasted? I don’t think Goldings are this bitter. Light iced tea and gingerbread flavor as well. The palate is rich and dry, medium/full bodied.

Very nice appearance, red w/ a murky brown middle, tan head. Caramel is in full effect in the nose. Not thick, but bubbly. Has some raisins maybe at the beginning. A nice consistent graininess flavor throughout. Really a nice ale.

Bottle best before 20/jun/06. A decent fermented fruit aroma to this beer. Amber body with large head and good lacing. A rich spicey apple flavor some caramelized body to this one. Dry fruity aftertaste on palate. Another good beer pick out for me by my wife.
