I’ve passed this beer over many times before because I didn’t like the date on the bottle. I was shocked to find one that still had a year left on it. Poured into an English pint. Dark copper amber with a big, everlasting, off white head. Nice cookie, or bready malt, quite a bit if ripe fruit esters, and a slight earthy hop nose. Sort of a cracker flavor, with some earthy-gritty-mushroom flavor. Very rich, full palate, with a dry finish. Really nice beer. A pure pleasure to drink. JCB (1777), Durham, North Carolina, USA

A younger cousin of the Fullers Vintage is my basic impression of this one. A full bodied amber pour, the nose is big and spicy with some lush caramel malts in there as well. Very nice smooth palate, with mellow malts, not too sweet at all. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

Full malty feel greets the mouth. Good sweetness that rounds out the taste and fades away. Certainly some spicy hops in the finish and aftertaste. Some chocolate and nuttyness in the palette. An excellent beer any way you look at it. sneagrams3 (1757), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Earthy and fudgy. Medium to full bodied. Smooth malts but totally dry. Flavor of dark chocolate, caramel, and a sweet hop bite. Cocoa and woody. Bitter Earthy English hop finish. Toffee and anise. Full palate with fruity undertones. The taste leaves the mouth feeling tingly with the effervescence and sherry notes. This is a delicious beer. Somewhat blunted. tarjei (1753), Bryne, Norway

Decent light tan head, quickly reduces to a thin mat of bubbles. Aroma is of damp hay, fruit, and alcohol. The flavor is very complex and difficult to pin down. I'd call it a spicy cake with rum splashed on top. Has a pretty dry start, too. Very interesting beer. daniele (1728), Italy
