Absolutely top notch! Pours with a good head, the liquid is deeply red in colour. This is one to be savoured. The balance is Just how I like it, not too much hoppy bitterness and plenty of malt. So overall a perfectly balanced ale with dry, fruity finish. I must put one away and let I develop fully....

Had a pint bottle of this at The Old Bag of Nails in Upper Arlington. This brew pours a ruddy orange. The titanic off white rocky head has amazing lacing. The head that ate Ohio was still occupying the space 3/4 the way up the pint glass when I downed my last gulp - outstanding! The moderate nose is balanced and complex with herb, spice, and flower, combined with spruce and earth. Some cask wood was also evident. The flavor is sweet, warm, spicy with a toasty quality and a long rich and bitter finish. The medium to full body is creamy, dry and smooth with a light alcoholic and astringent finish. A very nice prelude to my Fish and Chips dinner.

Bottled, delightfully fruity nose, hints of strawberries, no head, dark/tawny colour, hints of malt and fruitcake in the taste, thouroughly pleasant aftertaste.

Opitmy of balance. Pours a conservative head and not so lacey, but fine for the style. Nose is subdued a bit, but grains and bits of choco prevail. This ones all about the taste. Butter yeast, with hint of grain up front. Deep fruit combined with a woodsy-earth flavor. Just a hint of hop for snap and balance. This is a fine brew, very drinkable because there is so much depth to this brew. Chocolate, prunes, butter and wood does not send this all over the map but brings together one of the most well-balanced ales around.

This is the top of the line beer for Fullers. From the almost lacy head to the rich, deep reddish hue. The balance between the flavors, hops and malt is exquisite. I love this brew.

Thick head, (you can write your name in it). Rich, full-bodied taste. Sweet, fruity aroma. A favorite in my book.

Yummy. These are cellar-able and I have had bottles that were a year old and they mellow out nicely. A true hidden gem.

Rerate: Looks amazing - a beautiful mahougony. Just a top beer. </P>Original:Amazing beer which was much more bitter last time I tried it than I had remembered. Hops, smokeiness and dried fruit in taste.
