Nose of apricot, candy sugar, maybe cinnamon. Coats the mouth with light flavors of malt, fruit, milk chocolate, and spice. Finishes with a dry, somewhat woody, hop bite. Very drinkable yet sturdy. guzzler67 (1280), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 6, 2009 Average size tan head atop a garnet body that leaves nice lacing. Aroma of soft fruit, bready malts and yeast. Earthy taste, some sweetness, mild nuttiness, but well balanced by fragrant, floral hops. Very smooth mouthfeel, gently carbonated, with a dry, long lasting finish. Complex, but extremely drinkable. SubstanceT (1090), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

Kind of musty actually, but more of warm not moist or damp must. Smooth with currants on the taste, bitter and hoppy on the finish. DCopperfields (144), Alabama, USA

Pours a beautiful deep amber with a frothy head of beige bubbles. Lace is thick and adhesive. Nose is of sweetly cooking molasses and roasty caramel apples. Smooth and soft at first, it rises into a crescendo of alcohol, hops and a tasty chocolaty flourish fusing with roasted nuts. Very, very nice. crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA

All of the flavors are enjoyable and unoffensive. A very well round, drinkable beer. Fullers has yet to let me down. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada

Medium-light effervescence. Aroma is unique...very understated but is predominated by a spicey, smoked oak-fruity aroma. Front is very smooth with a good malt presence punctuated by its smokey-oak nutty sweetness balanced with the piney hops that become more prominent in the finish as the malts drop away and the piney hops become slightly bitter....long lingering metallic after taste. This is a very well put together ale...nicely balanced complexity...care and effort have been taken in the production and ingredients....and it shows. Beer Snob (382), Ontario, Canada

The aroma starts to emerge as the beer warms and the flavour improves as well. A unique ale, quite unlike anything I’ve had before. A beautiful ale with a wild taste - bourbon, fruitiness, syrup and spice. Almost creamy feel as it goes down. A nice bitter aftertaste. Certainly a surprising taste and one that grows on you.
