This beer was so good. Really good. Deep orange in color. A nice aroma of malt and it was sort of fruity. Slightly cloudy. A well made beer. Very delicious.

vintage 2001 bottle- Poured a deep amber color with a thick white head. Taste was a mix of fruits, malty goodness and a nice sweet hoppy bite.

Very nice appearance, red w/ a murky brown middle, tan head. Caramel is in full effect in the nose. Not thick, but bubbly. Has some raisins maybe at the beginning. A nice consistent graininess flavor throughout. Really a nice ale.

I have now drunk two bottles of this at different times, I guess due to the nature of bottle conditioned beer they differed slightly. I was a bit dissopointed by the first, the second however was marvellous. Certainly had a warming effect, was nice and smooth and just a hint of alcohol could be tasted, in addition there were earthy, nutty flavours. An excellent beer. Subsequently re-tasted, it is a superb brew, my favourite from Fuller's, although I haven't tried the Vintage Ales. A great English Strong Ale.

Deep cloudy brownish, copper color with a nice bubbly lacing head. Some fruit in the aroma. Some malt and hops as well. Smooth, with a hoppy bite at the end of the taste. Some dry hopping might have been used. Very full as well. A good beer in my opinion.

This is what a great English strong should be!! Nice malt and hop balance, with the biscuit flavor that defines this style for me.

An outstanding brew and cases of it have passed though my kidney. Described by Roger Protz as ’a rich beer with a fruit cake aroma, spices and nutmeg from malt and hops resulting in a dry, fruity finish’. Wish I could buy this in Alberta. Fantastic beer!!Great lookin’ beer, long lasting head, persistent bead, nose and palate just bursts with rich malty flavours and loads of fruity hops. There is so much flavour in this bottle...how do they manage it?? A big complex brew, but well balanced despite the high ABV. Truly a fine ale..not one for a session tho...unless you’ve got the next few days off!!
