Mahogany, fluffy tan head. Nose is raiiny toffee, roasty/dusty malts, dark sugary fruits, a hint of oxidation. Flavor is toffee, rich maltiness. Not quite coffee/cocoa dustiness. Finish is dark fruit, a bit of tingy hop, tobacco.

Bottle: Pour is slightly hazy brown with a creamy light tan head. Aroma is malty with a slight touch of floral hops. Flavor is damn smooth with medium malt, slight up front bitterness moving to some nice nutmeg and clove characters. This is a damn fine brew from fullers. Smooth and delicious. Would buy again.

Bottle, from Charles Street Liquors in Boston. Pours a ruby red with some dark orange, and a large cream head. Attractive. Aroma of hops and fruit. Flavor is full of subtlety, slightly bitter with some soft malt, ripe grapefruit, cherry, and oranges. Finish is creamy smooth, with bitter notes, and the remaining high note of fruit. Mouthfeel is a touch sticky on the finish. Gosh, I am surprised at the similarities in flavor between this and an American IPA. Yes, the smooth palate deviates from AIPA mouthfeel, but hmm, the bitter finish, the fruity body . . . doesn’t matter ‘cause this is a solid brew anyhow.

Hazy ruby, thick lacing beige head. Strong plastic nose, tangy gooseberry hops, little brewing mash. This ain’t right..Strongly hopped, caramel flavor with tobacco and grain, quite stuffy overall. Medium bodied, strongly carbonated mouthfeel. I got the last bottle at my local shop, and it turned out to be out of shape.

Aroma is rich and malty with a smoky, almost stout-like undertone. Color is a clear brown, somewhere between mahogany and dark caramel; head is thin but fine-bubbled. Rich flavor has strong hoppy overtone and strong smoky and nutty hints. Texture is pleasantly smooth. This is one ale for sipping and savoring rather than just gulping.
