(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Rather unusual aroma, slightly nutty, but not overly clean or pleasant. Medium body with a very alcoholic note and some very distinct bittering hops. What’s in between the aroma and the finish is a bit uncertain, I’m just not very fond of it. 110606

Bottle. A hazy orange beer with a thin disappearing orange head. The aroma is very spicy on a malty caramel back ground. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel, combined with a light spicyness.

Pours with a deep orage copper colour. Head dissipates quickly. Strong grassy and floral hop aromas with background crystal malt character. Alcohol is noticable in the nose. Flavour is bittersweet wel-balanced and finishes with a dry almost puckering bitterness and a slick ( diacetyl) character to the mouthfeel. Well balanced but disapointingly tame. Crystal malt is more dominant than hop flavour. Initial bitterness and crystal are even paced but lacks richness and fullness of character.

Clear amber with a loose soap bubble head. Biscuit, caramel and spicy hop aroma wih some wet cardboard. Tangy, burnt caramel and biscuit flavor with balancing bitterness. Very good, though the oxidation detracts.

Brilliant reddish copper, with a large white head that vanishes quickly, leaving some lacing on the glass. Nose of fruit, malt, hops. Taste of sweet malt, lemony and honey and apricot, with long bitter finish. First sip mouthfeel was thin, astringent, even chalky off. As I worked through the glass the lemon taste became more apparent, and the mouthfeel became normal. I prefer the 1845 and the various vintages, but this is better than the regular ESB.
