Bottle #00859 - Interesting beer here. While I’m a big fan of Fullers ESB, I wasn’t sure what to expect here. Aroma was hopped but very malt forward. Appearance was amber in color with nice conditioning. Mouthfeel was a bit thick for me but still enjoyable. Flavors were oaky, and earthy and a bit salty which I found enjoyable. Overall, I’d say this is a decent beer.

And an anniversary of sorts for me too - being my 300th rating, and a good drop to bring it up with too (and one I drink in honour of newly born yalnikim junior - may he have the opportunity to drink as many a fine an ale as I have/will). Pint pulled at The Flute & Whistle in Putney (London), brown with a thin bubbly beige head. A flowery and fruity aroma with apricots and tangerine. A very smooth palate with tangy undertones, combining with the juicy malt and spicy hops flavours (with a hint of plums).

Sweet and malty aroma with some funky foot-smell hops. Glowing reddish amber in color with a fluffy white head and some lacing. Snappy lemon hops are interwoven with a strong and fruity sweet malt flavor. Crisp finish. Some alcohol in the flavor.

Bottle # 3043 from the very generous Zanthrus13 - Thanks Jeff! - Pours copper with a medium offwhite head that stays very well and laces down the glass. Aromas of nuts, caramel malts, and some light hops.. Flavor is quite malty. Caramel, nuts, very sweet and smooth. Slight bitter hop finish. Palate is silky smooth and very drinkable. Deliciously malty and a treat to drink

Hand pulled at the Old Joint Stock, Birmingham. A big flavour in this dark, ruddy chestnut beer. Lots of tangy hops, and quite a mouth-attacking, citric underpinned rolling maltiness. Much better than normal ESB, and I can’t help feeling that this would love to a double IPA, if only it wasn’t English.

A pint of the cask version at the Bell & Crown, Chiswick. Dark ruby colur, nice head. Properly served in a proper glass, which means it has cellar temperature - not too cold and not too warm. Beautiful lacing on the glass. A very English taste. Smooth, but with the malt and the hops lingering underneath. Fruity, yet dry in the finish. A good beer, but not splendid enough to rank with the best of the other Fuller’s beers.
