Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
Ingredients: Pale malt; Northdown and Challenger hops. Dry hopped with Goldings.
GBBF Champion Beer 1989.
Slight change of recipe in 1999.
Chiswick Bitter is Fuller’s popular session strength ale, which derives its name from the area of London where Fuller’s is based. This lower strength beer is held in high regard across the South East of England and, like its stablemates London Pride and ESB, has won the prestigious CAMRA Great British Beer Festival, Beer of the Year award, in 1989. In fact, Fuller’s is the only brewery in England whose top three brands have won this award: a fitting testament to the skill and dedication of the Fuller’s brewers!

Cask at the Bank of England in Fleet Street. Clearly you need to start with this as it will be blown away otherwise. It looks good and has the character of an acceptable bitter with such low ABV but it does lack some real body. A sessionista beer perhaps but i feel the output would equal input rather quickly as there is not a lot there to discern it from a beer with real presence and character.

Cask: Clear amber appearance, modest head formation. Sweet caramelly, fruit flavor, similar to London Pride in some ways. Decent bitterness in the second half, cuts well across the sweetness. Bitterness lingers well into the aftertaste.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Old Joint Stock Birmingham. A copper coloured bitter with light hop in the aroma and taste. There is a fair amount of maltiness in the taste. Quite thin but then it is weak for a bitter, and sadly served too cold (IN A FULLERS PUB) Can’t be right!Score 2.6

Clear amber with short though lasting tan head. Nice strong floral hoppy aroma. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but the flavour is great considering low abv. Starts sweet slightly nutty toffee with a long hoppy bitter finish. Very drinkable.

My least favourite of the Fullers beers, it is OK, but you normally wouldn’t bother if you can have Pride or ESB. Hoppy, citrusy aroma, hops in the taste, but the watery mouthfeel dominates. Dry with a light bitter finish.

Hand pumped at the 2004 GBBF. A clear deep amber. Strong hops aroma. Hops dominate the flavour which I thought was a bit one-dimensional. Watery mouthfeel & short finish.

[Cask conditioned] Pale amber coloured. Rather sweet with flowery notes in the aroma. It has a mild bitterness in the flavour. Slightly light bodied.
