Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
Ingredients: Pale malt; Northdown and Challenger hops. Dry hopped with Goldings.
GBBF Champion Beer 1989.
Slight change of recipe in 1999.
Chiswick Bitter is Fuller’s popular session strength ale, which derives its name from the area of London where Fuller’s is based. This lower strength beer is held in high regard across the South East of England and, like its stablemates London Pride and ESB, has won the prestigious CAMRA Great British Beer Festival, Beer of the Year award, in 1989. In fact, Fuller’s is the only brewery in England whose top three brands have won this award: a fitting testament to the skill and dedication of the Fuller’s brewers!

Cask at Charlies. Clear amber coloured with a medium sized white head. Malty and fruity aroma of hops with notes of grass. Fruity flavour of malts and hops with notes of grass and pine needles. Hoppy finish. A bit watery,

From cask at Charlies. Pours clear and golden orange with a fully diminished off white head. Light peach fruity aroma. Peach fruity flavour, sweet and a light acidic touch. Lingering peachy finish.

A Mes rate: cask at the Doric Arch.
Orange coloured with a slight haze. Dry and hoppy, lightly fruity and slightly perfumey. Bland bitter finish. Typical dull Fullers behaviour.

Cask @ The Chrurchill Arms, Kensington.
Pours clear golden with a small bubbly white head. Aroma is mild, light flowery. Lowish carbonation and a little thin. Lovely flavour though, belying it’s 3,5 % ABV, lots of dry floral hops. Sadly there is too little maltiness to back it up properly. A long hoppy aftertaste.

The Old Stock Exchange, Birmingham. I know this is pretty commonplace down south, but I’d never seen it before, so tucked in with some relish. Huge orange peel-fruity/yeasty aroma that knocked me slightly sideways. Tangy citrus with long sweet malted milk afters. The same signature orange yeastiness as Golden Pride and Vintage (07), but better than either, with all the hallmarks of a world-class sessions.

Cask at the Lincolnshire Poacher, Nottingham. Although Chiswick has a nice fruity quality, it is both too thin and too bland to be remarkable in any way.
