Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
Ingredients: Pale malt; Northdown and Challenger hops. Dry hopped with Goldings.
GBBF Champion Beer 1989.
Slight change of recipe in 1999.
Chiswick Bitter is Fuller’s popular session strength ale, which derives its name from the area of London where Fuller’s is based. This lower strength beer is held in high regard across the South East of England and, like its stablemates London Pride and ESB, has won the prestigious CAMRA Great British Beer Festival, Beer of the Year award, in 1989. In fact, Fuller’s is the only brewery in England whose top three brands have won this award: a fitting testament to the skill and dedication of the Fuller’s brewers!

(Cask at Salisbury Hotel, Harringay, London, 28 Nov 2007) Amber colour with brief off-white head. Fruity nose with apricots, oranges and dusty hops. Fruity taste with notes of apricots, oranges and dusty hops in a fairly short finish. On the thin side, but decent and reliable session beer.

Cask at Barrow Boy And Banker, Southwark, London.
Dark golden/pale amber coloured, small soapy head. Malty and bitterish flowery taste with nice hoppy finish. Also fruity and citric notes.

Cask @ Liverpool St. Sporks. Pale amber with a thin white head. Bready malt and apple in the nose with some faint hop notes. Something else I couldn’t quite place also, maybe metal or yeast? Taste is much the same with the hops making an appearance in the end. OK but not fantastic.

Pours orange-amber with modest off white head. Aromas of fruit and citrus. Thin body with flavours of hops and caramel. Not too much character.

Comments: Not worth any throne or anything, but a quaffable, very simple bitter with straight nutty and hay-like malts and the mildest orangey hops.

Cloudy copper with a disappearing white head. Malty aroma with some caramel and a hint of citrus. Refreshing and dry with a lightly bitter aftertaste.

Cask, GBBF 07. Got the barrel end of this, but I could see its potential. Hoppy nose with some malt to balance and some nice fruity goings on. Mouth is hoppy with some malt to give it quenchability and gulpability. And gulp I did, very enjoyable.
