Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
Ingredients: Pale malt; Northdown and Challenger hops. Dry hopped with Goldings.
GBBF Champion Beer 1989.
Slight change of recipe in 1999.
Chiswick Bitter is Fuller’s popular session strength ale, which derives its name from the area of London where Fuller’s is based. This lower strength beer is held in high regard across the South East of England and, like its stablemates London Pride and ESB, has won the prestigious CAMRA Great British Beer Festival, Beer of the Year award, in 1989. In fact, Fuller’s is the only brewery in England whose top three brands have won this award: a fitting testament to the skill and dedication of the Fuller’s brewers!

Cask at the Cambridge Arms, Bristol. Amber coloured with slight head. Light, hoppy aroma. Not much body but flavours of citrus and malt with a dry finish. A decent session bitter.

Cask conditioned at The Bull Inn, Sonning, Berkshire. Light hoppy aroma, with a touch of burnt malt; crystal clear amber colour with a thin white head; clean fruity taste, with a hoppy finish, and a trace of honey. An uncomplicated, classic example of an English bitter.

At the Mawson Arms. Light hop aroma backed by malt. Light amber color with frothy white head. Starts a bit grapefruity with malt. Malt is balanced by hop in the finish. Very smooth and drinkable.

Cask at the Charles XII, Heslington, York. Appealing dark amber with a decent shade of dense white foam. Aroma is sweet and slightly hoppy, with toffee, grapefruit, and some floral notes predominate as well as a slight vegetal tinge. Juicy citrus hops in the taste mainly, with a fading hit of toffee malt that lends some sweetness. Grapefruit, sweet oranges, a floral dynamic as well. Very slight bitter finish. Watery on the palate, a bit slight; served a bit too cold. Decent and all-around average pint.

Full pint at The Dog & Duck in Soho. Low-level foam over an amber coloured body. Great clarity. Light hoppy aroma. Taste a bit like juicy fruit. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Smooth and light palate (01.02.2007).

Small head, strong lacing. Cloudy, light amber in the glass. The flavour was mainly of hops, some citric notes and a grassy quality. Light bodied, but not watery. Lingered in the mouth well.

Cask (only got a half of a half-pint, a.k.a. end of cask). Amber colour, not much head. Citrus and grass in the overall hoppy aroma. Flowery hops along with some fruity hints in flavour. Quite grassy notes also. Felt quite watery, but still nice for being only 3.5%.
