Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
Ingredients: Pale malt; Northdown and Challenger hops. Dry hopped with Goldings.
GBBF Champion Beer 1989.
Slight change of recipe in 1999.
Chiswick Bitter is Fuller’s popular session strength ale, which derives its name from the area of London where Fuller’s is based. This lower strength beer is held in high regard across the South East of England and, like its stablemates London Pride and ESB, has won the prestigious CAMRA Great British Beer Festival, Beer of the Year award, in 1989. In fact, Fuller’s is the only brewery in England whose top three brands have won this award: a fitting testament to the skill and dedication of the Fuller’s brewers!

Cask at the Bell and Crown. Very smooth and fruty. Some head, low carbonation. Nice little hoppy aftertaste, which lingers for a bit. Refreshing.

Thin coarse white head; light brown body. Faint hoppy aroma. Light, almost watery, delicately acidic taste. Faint resiny tinge to it, but mostly it’s water. Faint dryish finish. Not bad, but too watery. (0.5pt on cask.)

Cask. Clear amber with a white cap. Citrus aroma with a light grainy backing. Flavour is mostly citrus, but I found it to be lacking in malt character a bit and therefore lacking balance. Thin finish and not all that great in all.

Fresh hoppy, quite floral aroma. Hazy, amber-orange coloured with a thin white head. Taste is moderate bitter, floral hoppy, bit malty. Quite fresh citric overall. Light bodied.

Cask conditioned @ South Western Arms, Soton. Nice fresh hops if on the light side and the malt stays just on the right side of sweet for me. Good for a session and in many ways I prefer this to its bigger brothers.

Cask at the Butchers Arms Headington, Oxford. Amber coloured, hoppy bitter and a really good session beer that is all too often not available.

Cask at The Old Joint Stock, Birmingham. Clear light amber with a small head dissipating quickly. Citrus and very bitter hops in the aroma. Slightly sweet aftertaste with a hint of caramel.

Cask at Churchill Arms, London. Copper color. Caramel and tropical fruits in the aroma. Light caramel, english hops, aromatic malt and melon in the flavor. Finishes quite fruity with hop flavor and bitterness. Good session ale.
