Commercial Description:
Bottled, Pasteurised.
This delicious, premium blonde ale from Fuller’s is the perfect combination of unbeatable flavour and refreshment.
Brewed using a unique blend of malted barley and wheat for a delicious malty taste bursting with rich, biscuity flavours, Liberty hops are then added for a distinctive zesty character and fruity bite, whilst Saaz hops add a gentle bitter taste for a clean, refreshing finish.
In cask, Discovery is 3.9% ABV, while in bottles the strength is 4.5% ABV.
Discovery tastes great served chilled, and its light, refreshing character makes it a perfect accompaniment to many foods.

Bottle from supermarket. Not what I’d call a blonde by any stretch. Orangey brown colour with pale white head that rapidly disappears. Pleasant malt aroma with a flowery/citrus undertone. Too thin for its ABV it lacks punch on the palate. Slight bitterness in the finish is overwhelmed by the sweetness and leads to a lack of character. I can imagine this being a decent cask-conditioned real ale and the bottle version would certainly benefit from secondary fermentation.

330 ml brown bottle, from Maxi Stormarked, Sandnes. ABV is 4.2%. Golden colour, moderate head. Moderate fruity hops in the aroma, some notes of toffee and buttered toast too. The flavour has moderate malts and fruity hops (hints of oranges), with just a very moderate bitterness in the finish. Nothing wrong with it, but doesn’t blow your socks off.

Bottle. The beer pours a clear golden body with a small white head on top. No carbonation or lacings. Fruity, citrusy nose with some tea and a good malty backbone giving it some balance, but the citrusy and slightly piney aromas are pulling most of the weight. It’s quite thin in the mouth, with yellow apples and of course orange and lime, as well as a biscuity malty flavor. Hops dominating the flavor too. Decent finish with lime and a little malty flavor. A decent, quaffable beer, nothing more. (080728)

Bottle. Clear amber gold with short-lived white head. Nice lemony & hoppy aroma. Medium body & carb. Fruity start with hoppy finish.
