Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
This delicious, premium blonde ale from Fuller’s is the perfect combination of unbeatable flavour and refreshment.
Brewed using a unique blend of malted barley and wheat for a delicious malty taste bursting with rich, biscuity flavours, Liberty hops are then added for a distinctive zesty character and fruity bite, whilst Saaz hops add a gentle bitter taste for a clean, refreshing finish.
In cask, Discovery is 3.9% ABV, while in bottles the strength is 4.5% ABV.
Discovery tastes great served chilled, and its light, refreshing character makes it a perfect accompaniment to many foods.

Mild tea-like tannins and earthy, floral hops in the aroma. Clear copper coloured body with low white head that recedes to partial cover. Tea-like tannins and floral earthy hops over sweet, toasty malts with fair finishing bitterness. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Cask at Charlie’s Pub, Copenhagen.

Cask at Barrow Boy and Banker. Southwark. Goldenale, lasting bubbly white head. Nice lemon/orange aroma bit of caramel and butter, mouthfeel is ok, not exciting. Ginish has some citrus fruit and a bit of dryness. Fine, not a great beer, but ok

Oct, 2005JDW, Holborn. A cask lager - and not a very good one. Served as cold as a keg lager this doesn’t work for me - the fat sweetness of the ale yeast is fighting against the the thin crispness of the formulation and the temperature. Some assorted fruit flavours in the lower citric range come through as the beer warms up, but not enough to lift this beer into a satisfactory experience. [2.3]
Jan, 2007The Partridge, Bromley Softly fragrant blonde ale. Not as sharp as I like them, and with a diacetyl taste. Quite fruity - raspberry. Drinkable, but not outstanding. [2.6]

Casked. Dark golden colour, big bubbly head. Bitter fruity aroma. Fruity flavour which grows into a huge hoppy finish. Very smooth. Gets more pleasant as you drink. Also some caramellish/honeyish notes in flavour.

Cask (handpump) at the Melton Mowbray, Holborn, London. These golden summer ales seem to come in three styles. Firstly, there’s the ones with the aromatic, fruity ones using lots of US hops. Then there’s the grassy ones with lots of German hops. And then there’s the ones like this, which seem almost like a normal bitter, except lighter in colour. There’s not a lot of aroma and not a lot of hops. Not a lot of anything really. Dry and a little citric. Perfectly drinkable but not very interesting. I see that others have rated this quite highly so perhaps the cask was a little tired. I’ll give it another go.

Cask Conditioned at The Chequers, Chipping Norton, Oxon. Deep gold colour with bubbly white head. This is a sweetish, juicy fruit beer, light and bordering on lager. Pineapple notes stick out with an underlying biscuit malt. Rather low on a hoppy finish. Easy drinking, a decent summer beer.

Cask Conditioned, at the Crosse Keys, London.
Golden, bright, with a soft white head. Pineapple and summer fruits, light and very quaffable. Clean with a smooth bitter finish. Very refreshing and very exciting to know that I can get this beer at most Fullers pubs in London.

A refreshing summer beer, and an excellent alternative to all the bland lagers available on tap. I prefer Lonon Pride and ESB, though!
