Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
This delicious, premium blonde ale from Fuller’s is the perfect combination of unbeatable flavour and refreshment.
Brewed using a unique blend of malted barley and wheat for a delicious malty taste bursting with rich, biscuity flavours, Liberty hops are then added for a distinctive zesty character and fruity bite, whilst Saaz hops add a gentle bitter taste for a clean, refreshing finish.
In cask, Discovery is 3.9% ABV, while in bottles the strength is 4.5% ABV.
Discovery tastes great served chilled, and its light, refreshing character makes it a perfect accompaniment to many foods.

[Cask at the Corn Stores, Reading] Despite the supposedly different hops, this is clearly a Fullers beer - tastes a bit like Chiswick (Dusty straw, earthy tones) with much of the flavour boiled out and a big dash of lemon added. In short, it tastes like they’ve tried to create a golden ale by amending one of their existing bitters rather than by setting out to create a new beer. It’s not bad, but there’s nothing special here. Especially disappointing considering the usually great brewery it’s come from.

Cask at The Artillery Arms, London. Hazy golden with a fast disappearing head. Typical Fullers flowery and fruity hop nose. Good bitterness, earthy and fruity flavours. Some caramel. A good session beer.

Cask, Doric Arch. Geez this was so average. Golden colour, no head. Thin, sweet, malty, a chore to finish. Pish really, masquerading as something more.

A Mes rate: cask at The Doric Arch.
Darkish blonde colour. Slightly earthy malt, a little bit of fruit. Bland as John Major.

Cask @ Churchill Arms, Kensington, London.
Pours golden copper with almost no head, just some white bubbles on top. Aroma is wonderful, caramel, toffee and a nice fruity and flowery hoppiness. Surprisingly high carbonated for a cask ale. Flavour is lovely malty, chewy and sticky. Good dry aftertaste with a fruitiness to the hops.

Cask, Marsh Harrier, Oxford. Pale gold, white head. Is there aroma? Served too cold to tell. Flavor is very neutral apricot. Light body. The commercial description is a laugh: "...bursting with rich, biscuity flavours." No stretch of the imagination could honestly call what is here "bursting", except possibly "bursting with safe blandness." Nothing wrong with this exactly, but very little to love either. Even as a cross-over beer for pale lager drinkers this is sort of a weak effort.
