This delicious, premium blonde ale from Fuller’s is the perfect combination of unbeatable flavour and refreshment.
Brewed using a unique blend of malted barley and wheat for a delicious malty taste bursting with rich, biscuity flavours, Liberty hops are then added for a distinctive zesty character and fruity bite, whilst Saaz hops add a gentle bitter taste for a clean, refreshing finish.
In cask, Discovery is 3.9% ABV, while in bottles the strength is 4.5% ABV.
Discovery tastes great served chilled, and its light, refreshing character makes it a perfect accompaniment to many foods.

Cask. Orange-transparent, a decent lunch beer as it has good but not overpowering malts. Not very complex but drinkable. Leathery aroma, slightly phenolic.

Gotta hand it to Fullers, just like the London Pride, this stuff was flawless, perfectly attenuated and tastefully hopped. Bright condition, with a copper-gold color, moderate amber highlights and a foamy white head that sits at cover, leaving light lacing.
Lovely maltiness with that vintage smell to it; bready (lightly), oily and just very wooden. I guess wooden is what I mean by vintage. Smells like being in an apartment with lots of antique furniture. Or something like that. Some light cream notes add ample sweetness and dainty hops add light floral notes, a bit of lemon and a combination of herbal-orange qualities that give it an almost tea-like note. Very light and easygoing beer in the nose (and flavor).
Some pert bitterness is quickly vanishing, leaving traces of tangerine and lemon, while bits of grains brush the palate and some light sugars are yielded. More of the wood-like, nicely-kilned malt flavors, just barely toasted. A bit of breadiness adds a touch of heft/body and a soft bitterness lingers pleasantly on the end. Lovely, soft, engaging carbonation and a medium to medium-light body overall with a spritzy, drinkable texture. No alcohol or flaws noted.

Cask conditioned at the Old Fish Market, Bristol. Pale Gold with a slight white head. Aroma dulled by being served too cold, but there were hints of citrussy hops. Flavours were muted, but wheat and apricots were evident. Not much of a finish either. Bland.

(Cask at Victoria, Paddington, London 28 Apr 2007) Golden amber colour with brief white head. Fruity nose with lemon, orange peel and dried apricots. Fruity taste with notes of apricots, orange, mandarin and balanced notes of citrussy hops in the finish. Very "summery", rather thin body. Refreshing, but not really daring.

This was served very cold, its an attempt to copy the ’extra cold’ rash of commercial largers. First impressions were favourable, lots of zesty citrus from the hops, but it fell away in the middle with a very watery finish. I think the over chilling killed of a lot of the aromas making this a somewhat underachieving drink.

[CASK: The Dog and Partridge, East Didsbury, Manchester 04/08/06] A very pleasing amber ale, light and refreshing and extreamly satisfying. Recommended.
