Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle.
Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: ’ deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.’ Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: ’the Cognac of beers’.

330 ml bottle, at The Beehive, Brentford, London. Copper coloured, moderate head. Malty sweet aroma with hints of dried fruits, oak and sherry. Flavour is malty sweet with oak, dried figs and dusty hops. Warming mouthfeel. Interesting.

Amber colour with a small off white head. Malty fruity nose with yeast and alcohol. Fruity sweet flavor, lots of dark fruits and a yeasty finish.

As nose meets glass, Golden Pride exudes a strong smell of alcohol, too strong for my tastes because it masks the smells of oak and cinnamon which can be found on closer inspection. The beer is a dark amber/red in colour, fairly attractive with a quickly diminishing head. After tasting one must again feel that alchol plays to large a part and that although it provides a pleasant, warming finish, the other flavours in this beer are simply not strong enough to compete. A pleasant beer, but the drinker must seek out the notes beyond the alcohol as they do not immediatly reveal themselves.

Pasteurised bottle from Sainsbury’s. Amber orange colour. Aroma vinous, spice, alcohol. Mouthfeel a little syrupy. Dry finish. Alcohol a little too evident in the mix.

I had it after a "ok christmas special ale", and a great IPA. But still the aroma and flavor had a good balanced composition. A realy nice goodnight and sleep well beer.

Nice amber colour with good sized white head. Complex aroma; malty, hoppy, honey, dark fruits and more. What a fantastic beer. Malty but balanced well with the hops at the finish. Slightly sweet, brown sugar taste with some toffee as well. Wonderfully smooth, rounded and full bodied. One of the world’s best beers. Fantastic.
