Tall fine-laced white head that clings to the glass. Subtle rounded malt aroma with a hint of earthy and grassy hops. Feels rich. Mellow bitter flavour initially then more malts. Has a wonderful balance, but lacks in character. Definitely full-bodied, but the hop bitterness take out most of its punch. Some alcohol character. Not bad, but I feel that there could be much more of everything except body in this beer. Aroma: malty, with hints of orange and mild spices (nutmeg, coriander), some alcohol.
Taste: quite malty, but very refreshing (almost “light”) due to the strong orange flavour, and a mild sweetness.
Body: quite sparkly, with heavy malt body.
Aftertaste: recurring orange taste, some malt, lightly acidic.
Drinkability: it is a very drinkable beer, but you can definitely tell you’ve had a 8.5% beer after one glass Kalli (480), Falun, Sweden
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 29, 2009 Toffee malts and apple on the nose. Lots of caramel with a touch of alcohol and a hint of dried, dark fruit. Never gets too sweet despite that and the hops, although a bit in the background, provide a nice counterweight. Hops cut through the sweet cloying alcoholic malt base to create a reasonable balance. One of Fullers better beers. Ober (1211), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands
