Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle.
Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: ’ deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.’ Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: ’the Cognac of beers’.

Bottled. Dark amber, firm beige head. Plain sweet toffee aroma, hint of hops, vanilla and warming alcohol. Flavor has sweetish toffee, little berries and banana fruitiness, alcohol shows even more, solid hops in the sugary finish. Medium to full bodied, a bit sticky lush palate. Utterly simple, but still pleasing enough strong ale.

(BBE 21/11/09 @ May 22nd 2009) Amber, little head. Strong malty aroma, even whisky-like with the alcohol. Not too sweet, strong malty flavor, some caramel. Slightly bitter in the finish. Easy to drink considering the ABV.

500ml bottle–pours a rich off white head and amber color. Aroma is wood/grain, some citrus, alcohol. Taste is sweet medium malt-caramel, macademia, then bitter, boozy/alcohol set in. this could improve with aging. Syrupy mouth feel. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for bring this back from his trip across the pond.

Pours dark clear amber. White head. Aroma and flavor is very malty. Also nuts, vanila, cola and some alcohol. Aftertaste has some peppery feel because of the strong alcohol.

On tap at Birreria Accademia. First aroma was of wet socks. Two finger off-white head with clear golden ruby color. Strong alcohol taste and darker malt tones coupled with faint citrus tastes. Overly carbonated, an average beer but I’d rather drink something else at a bar.

330 ml bottle from Sytembolaget, Charlottenberg. A fingerthick, lightly tanned dense head upon a shining, reddish amber colored body. Initial aroma of delicate sweet malts. Then a scent of mild spices, dark dried fruits and marzipan. Full malt body with caramel, mild spices and marmelade from dark fruits. A nice and warming alcohol heat. Medium body strength. Malty, fine bitter ending. A lovely, potent and well-balanced Brit.

Bottle. Pours beautifully amber with a large off-white head. Fair lacing. Nose of light malt, hops and caramel. Sweet flavour with malt, hops and bread. Medium bodied. Well balanced. Light bitter finish. A fine brew.
