Cask @ Euston Flyer, London. Dark copper-orange colour, short head. Aroma has caramel malt. Flavour has toasted malts, caramel, brown sugar, fruits. Sweet and sticky finish. Not good.

Cask, Gravity at Banbury Beer Festival, Oxon, 08-05-09 Pours deep amber maybe even chesnut in colour. Rich and malty aroma but also a little boozy. The taste follows the aroma perfectly, but this had a surprisingly bitter aftertaste, the sweetness which is always there is totally counterbalanced by the bitterness, great stuff. Cask (gravity) @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester, England.
Clear medium amber orange color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, fruity, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration, finish has a peppery - alcoholic bitternes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish is light alcoholic. [20090124]

Cask in The Sanctuary (Fullers pub) in central London this week. Lovely ruby colour, small head. Warming, comforting and smooth with a sweet caramel taste. Unusual to see this on cask but always a nice treat. I have been drinking this beer for many years in bottled form but the cask version is much better in my opinion.

Cask, Derby Winter Fest 09. Dark gold with an off-white head. Aromas are malty with toffee and chocolate. Sweet raisins and grapefruit with yeast. Flavours are smooth chocolate and toffee with spices, pine and grapefruit. Smooth and thick on the palate with warming alcohol. As good as the bottle version.

Cask@Derby Winter Beer Festival, 2009. Vibrant amber coloured beer with a lightly malty aroma, and a very malty and vinous flavour. Overall a reasonable vinous and malty strong ale.

Cask stillage at the White Horse Parsons Green. This is a rare beer to see on cask - or bottled for that matter. The name is misleading, it is dark ruby rather than golden. Ripe fruit and berries, Vinous. Blackcurrants, rowan berries. A little oxidized, but not unpleasantly so. One of the best from Fullers, it should be more available.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel, Northampton. A dark brown to amber coloured beer. Strong in all departments and warming. The fruit though can be brash and harsh and the body not smooth. Having said that it’s got some good qualities, especially the malty warming elements. Misses some tricks though.
