A British IPA that actually has some hop aroma and grassy bitterness. But largely it has a weak malt body and flavor that leaves a lot to be desired in an IPA. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

Taste is also of bitter hops and nothing else. I didn't get any of the fruit characteristics others noticed, and that is a quality I like in an ipa. One dimensional and disappointing, I expect better things from this brewer. Kasteelfreak (341), Fallbrook, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 13, 2003 Why is this called an IPA? It's not that bad, but is extremely weak compared to a typical IPA. Nice copper color with small retaining head and little lace. Kind of water with caramel malt flavor. Almost like a weak amber with a medium hoppy finish kujo9 (1078), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Jun 7, 2003 Caramel colored medium amber w/ good head retention and lacing given the apparetly low carbonation. Malty toffeew/ a light tobacco hop aroma and a moderate diacetyl(buttery). Also has a hint of toastiness. Malty and bitter hop flavors balance very well and finishes to the decidedly lingering bitterness, but it's not a harsh bitterness. Fruity, caramel/toffee (diacetyl)buttery are more apparent as it warms than they are in the aroma. Aftertaste is very clean. Medium bodied with low carbonation like it was served out of a cask, but this was filtered since there was no yeast cake, also has a dry mouthfeel. I was expecting a little more ABV for an IPA, but it's a very nice session beer that I could get used to drinking a lot of due to the complexities of this smaller version of an IPA. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 29, 2003 Nice deep amber. Mild hops aroma. Nice off-white head. Classic IPA in that it isn't all that agressivly hopped. Hints of citrus (?grapefruit). A very nice IPA. vwsteggie (684), Paxton, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2003 Has a great amber color with little carbonation and a hop smell. Taste is little malted at first and finishes with typical hop flavor, but I also taste a bit of honey sweetness in it. Overall not a bad IPA.
