| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 18, 2003 Gold and amber color, medium body. Flowery, sweet tastes, but where are the hops? This has no hop character whatsoever, especially for an IPA. A great disappointment. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 8, 2003 Amber-Orange color with a thick lasting head and lots of lace. Sweet fruity hop aroma with flowery accents. Sweet hoppy flavor with a fruity middle and a strong dry hoppy finish. Medium bodied and dry. Yet another great IPA from the country that originated them. akinm (282), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 7, 2003 Brilliantly clear, orange color with a white head that has small bubbles and thin legs. the head dous not last long. the aroma is very malty, lots of toffee notes. only the slightest hint of hops in the aroma. the flavor is also very toffee malty. there is a hint of bitterness right at the end but nearly no hop flavor. medium to medium thin mouthfeel. very similar to the london pride pale ale. mribm (419), Hurley, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 4, 2003 This beer poured with a small head and was orange colored. It had a nice malty nose and malty taste with some hops in the background. Much different than an American IPA, as there isn’t as much hoppiness. It isn’t quite what I expected from an IPA, however it had a nice flavor. Tasted a lot like Fuller’s ESB. It appears to me that a lot of people rate this against American IPA’s, expecting a lot of hops. You can’t do that. The English IPA’s are a diffferent breed of animal. cb (809), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 4, 2003 This didn’t seem like an IPA to me. Extremely dry and low carbonation. I’d like to try more English IPAs to compare with this one. VENOM (941), Connecticut, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2003 Clear dark gold. Fizzy, off white edge head. Scant carbonation. Goldings aroma, buttery toffee and clean water. Brisk, hoppy and buttery with loads of Goldings and other Englishly floral hops. Slick yeast traits. Dry. Medium body. Crisp and quenching. Solid toffee malts balance the abundant hop bitterness. Finishes buttery, bitter and distinctively English. Love it. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 3, 2003 This should be called raspeberry IPA, overly sweet, underaged fruit smell and aroma, very unlike the style. Light hops and low alcohol, how could this be called an IPA? delacerveza (157), Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2003 had this on tap, not as hoppy as i thought an IPA would be--guess i’m used to the american style. lovely sweet hay aroma, nice ruddy color. rather more malty than i was expecting, which isn’t a bad thing imho.
