Commercial Description:
Cask; Occasional.
India Pale Ale was originally created to refresh the troops at the height of the British Empire in India. This pale amber classic faithfully re-creates the traiditional characteristics of this historic product, well-hopped to leave a pleasant bitterness.

Cask @ YNWA. Pours a clear golden copper-like amber. A small foamy head with some lacing. Mild aroma with a weak floral hoppyness. Mild and dry mouthfeel with a good dose of flowery hops. Despite the alcohol content, it feels warming and well-balanced.

(Cask at Jugged Hare, Victoria, London 25 Apr 2007) Amber colour with brief foamy head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of grapefruit and orange. Fruity, hoppy taste with grapefruit, orange peel and citrussy, floral hops in the finish. Medium to light body. Rather one dimensional, but very nice hop character.

Cask @ ’The Wharf’, Aalborg. Cobber colour with white head. Fruity nose. Flowarl and hop frutiness with a balanced bitter taste. Thin to medium body. An interresting version of an IPA without the normal some times overwhealming bitter hops taste.

Pint pulled at the Flute & Whistle in Putney (London), pours a clear amber with a thin head. A hoppy aroma, but this is no IPA. I found it to be a bit thin and not very hoppy on the palate. The mainly fruit flavour was a little oversweet for me. On second tasting a bit better though.

Cask at the St Radegund. Attractive amber colour offering with a fairly entiing, hoppy aroma and refreshing but not astounding grassy, hoppy taste. A nice bitter finish on a very drinkable pint

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2007. Clear amber colour with thin off white head. Some biscuity malt, some raspberry fruit. Plenty of earthy citrus hop on finish. Good astringency. It’s not at all bad. Very English, biscuity/toffee malt and good floral earthy citrus hop. EKG on aroma.

A Mes rate: Gravicask @ Planet Thanet. Nothing better than a so so offering from the corporate machine. Soapy and flaccid. Sod off Fullers.

At the Mawson Arms. Light aroma of piny hop; very light. Amber color with a frothy white head. Light hop start, a little malt follows, mildly bitter (by USA standards) finish - but very nice bitter.
