Blackish dark brown and not opague. Wet burned wood taste with a whack of alky yet not over the top. Has that old ale flavor. I’m surprised it’s classified as a porter. Nice over all with a gentleman finish that lacks any oppressiveness. doppelmeup (51), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Very, very dark brown brew with ruby highlights. Half inch off-white head after a vigorous pour. Slowly dissipated, leaving only slight lacing on the glass. This was about the only thing I could find not perfect about this beer.
Smelled of chocolate, caramel, brown sugar, some coffee and cream, maybe even some cinnamon toast. Very complex and layered, and it keeps improving as the beer warms. Boy, does this aroma ever make me want to drink this beer!
The taste was fabulous. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, molasses, and just enough hop bitterness to cleanse the palate. The flavors are layered and keep evolving as this beer warms. It is quite possibly the best tasting beer I’ve ever had!
Smooth, creamy, just thick enough to provide great body without being sticky or cloying. Enough carbonation to keep it light without being fizzy. A slight lingering flavor of coffee and dark chocolate that leaves you wanting more and more.
Extremely drinkable. Moderate ABV and awesome flavor makes for a great drinking experience. I wish I had a few more bottles of this available. It is fantastic.
This ranks as one of the finest beers I’ve ever had! I was expecting a good beer, and was pleasantly surprised to find a great beer.

Scent of deeply roasted malts made my mouth water. Complex, hearty, perfectly balanced taste with a thick, creamy mouthfeel that stayed with me long after the beer was gone. Possibly the best representation of what I want from a beer. I’ll let you know if I find a better one! BeerGestapo (740), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Apr 15, 2008 Wow, is that... coffee in my porter? It is! All porters have that smell but this is the one that smells like a coffee with milk in it. Great color. SMooth taste. Little weak in the mouth. So malty and coffee, mildly bitter, just great. I’d give it more points if it didn’t die on my tongue. milljam (569), Norman, Oklahoma, USA

Very roasted flavor, definitely a large coffee presence. Flavor is predominately coffee laced with bittersweet chocolate. Mouthfeel is very creamy and smooth. Finish is slightly dry with minimal bitterness. Fantastic porter overall.
