whiteman1488 (15), New York, USA May 16, 2008 Best porter I’ve ever had. No overpowering chocolate taste/sweetness that you find in a lot of porters. Vyaches (6), qqq, Russia does not count May 13, 2008 intence cofee and rye bread aroma. smooth flavor wth bitterish rye bread aftertaste. i think this porter is short of intensity, that is only my opinion of course! Beershine (1010), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle. Deep brownish-black with reddish tint. Small off-white head. Roasted malts, chicory, cocoa predominate in mild nose. Creamy mouthfeel helps coat the tongue with the sublime chocolate malt flavors. Hops delightfully balanced by a subtle string of sweetness, lingering finish. Great stuff. DocHop (144), College Park, Maryland, USA May 10, 2008 Perfect copper/dark amber color with a very thick and full khaki head. Awesome aroma of chocolate malts, a mild roastiness that gives the impression of a sweet coffee. Nice medium body, not too thick. Sweetness really comes through with the initial taste, the finish is what draws out the smooth roasted quality along with the unique porteresque hop flavor. MrChopin (62), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 Pours dark red/brown with white, long-lasting head. Nose is initially more malt roast/coffee, but as beer warms, chocolate scents grow in dominance. Taste was similar, starting off with more roast bitterness, caramel and chocolate developing with warmth, and finally, an exclusively sweet chocolate dominance. I found the body lifeless, probably my least favorite aspect.
