Very dark with a lovely head.
A lot of aroma from coffee, chocolate and prune.
A very smooth, soft and fresh palate.
Smoky flavour with chocolate.

Oct 8, 2008 What an excellent beer. Surpassed as a porter only by the cask version. So raisiny, with a full alcoholic warmth. Can’t believe it’s "only" 5.4. I’d never much cared for porters until this beer, and it’s taken me this long to rate it.

Oct 5, 2008 Pours deep ruby. Tall, fluffy lingering tan head leaves intricate lacing. Aroma of chocolate malt, very malty and somewhat spicy. Flavor is intricate blend of chocolate, caramel and dark malts, some residual sweetness. Palate full body, creamy mouthfeel, fair bitterness with average carbonation. Is this Heaven?

Oct 5, 2008 Bottle. Poured dark brown with a medium lasting white head. Roasty aroma with some coffee. More chocolate in flavour but mostly roasted malts. Medium bodied.

Oct 4, 2008 Dark pour with slowly forming, long lasting head. Smooth taste of toasted mocha that builds in the mouth, definitely recommended
