hotstuff (3045), Indiana, USA Aug 25, 2004 Bottle. Medium sized tan head and fine-medium sized bubbles. Mostly opaque, carbonated and a dark brown hue. Malty, caramel and roasted coffee aroma. Flavor was chocolate and roasted coffee from start to finish. Smooth mouthfeel. Good lacing. A very good Porter IMO. Well worth a try!
JRHBrew (176), Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada Oct 12, 2008 Excellent porter. My only complaint is it is perhaps a bit heavy with the chocolate notes, however as the beer warms beyond a typical temperature it gains better balance. Jine (869), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Oct 12, 2008 Bottle. Given to me by Adamskillin back in July. A very delicous porter. Very nice. Only 1 bottle left, how unfortunate. Ober (403), Best, Netherlands Oct 11, 2008 An almost black colored beer, with a thick beige foamed head. The aroma caramel, cherries, roasted malts. The taste has little chocolate notes, roasted malts, fruity like cherries and peaches. Smokey bitter and dry. The aftertaste has some bitter and stays for a while. liinis (481), Finland Oct 10, 2008 amberish black (clear) with a good beige head leaving lace.very rich and strong with coffee dark chocolate liquorice hops and lots of roasted malts. elihapa (318), Connecticut, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle from Charles Street Liquors in Boston. Glugs out of bottle a chocolate color, and sits with a one-finger head that dissipates to mere lacing within a minute. Aroma is semisweet chocolate, charcoal/smoke, coffee, biscuit and some licorice. Flavor hits your mouth with a crispness of dark flavors that is very attractive. Palate is dry, with light carbonation. Primary flavors are roasts, smoke and chocolate, but there is definitely a sweeter component that underpins the flavor profile of London Porter. Dark, but just quaffable (palate and flavor) enough to keep this from being a one-and-done type of brew. Highly recommended.
