bradlyc77 (226), Sebastopol, California, USA Apr 6, 2009 Pours copper. Aroma is malty. Flavor is malt, citrus/apricot, floral. Light bodied, good session brew. troopie (848), USA Apr 5, 2009 Bottle. Poured pale brown with thick head. Little lacing but many bubbles. Aroma of malt and yeast. Malty flavour, with a sweet edge and a diacetyl note, but not enough of the last to spoil it. Medium malt finish with a hop line. Good with fried fish. FishManLA (284), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA Apr 1, 2009 Copper color with a smallish off white head and thin lacing. Yeast and sweet malt on the nose and a sweet but fairly robust malt taste. Finish of mildly bitter hop. This one is sort of a "textbook beer"; a simple tasty balance of malt and hop. gunnar (486), Sandnes, Norway Apr 1, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear copper, with a small off white head. Strong malty aroma, some orange as well. Full malty flavor, on the sweet side, but very easy drinkable. bedainedebiere (274), Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada Mar 31, 2009 A great beer, 3,65$ at SAQ, I know a few macro fans that really like this beer. Very discreet aroma, the carbonation feeling is pretty high in the mouthfeel. Smooth taste, subtle notes of sweetness, many fruity underlayers in the taste and interesting hop finish. All in all a good beer, that is for me in the shadow of their ESB. TheHulk (106), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Mar 31, 2009 Malty malty malty. It’s in the smell and the taste, it reminds me of being in the homebrew shop. The first sip was smooth, but the more I drink it the more the gap widens between the malts and the hops flavour. The flavours are always there but they just aren’t that deep. The aroma begins to smell of damp hey. I don’t think I’ll make a point of getting this one again. Elwood (659), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Mar 29, 2009 1 pint bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a small, creamy, off white head. Sweet malt, a bit of citrus, and light caramel in the nose. Medium carbonation with a rich mouthfeel. Fairly full bodied. A little citrus, some grass, caramel sweetness, a bit of toast, and roasted malt on the palate. As the beer warmed, floral notes emerged as well. A little bit of stickiness in the mouthfeel. The finish is long lasting with a nice balance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness. An excellent example of an English bitter. RyanMM (45), Ferndale, Michigan, USA Mar 28, 2009 Nice coppery gold color, moderate lacing, flavor is good, but just a little on the bland side. Not finding a whole lot of depth to this one, but it is definitely drinkable, if that’s what you’re looking for.
