LouieDog40oz (28), Germantown, Maryland, USA Mar 21, 2008 A very rich pale ale. This is what pale ales should strive to taste like. It has a dark complex amber color and a distinctive heavy taste for a pale ale. Very good probably in my top 5 for pale ales. albertane (376), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Mar 20, 2008 I always enjoy this when I have it at the pub (although it’s been awhile); however, I found this bottled version fairly unremarkable, so I’ll have to agree with RPillsbury that it must be better cask conditioned. It is amber coloured with a good balance of malt and hops flavours (with some nice caramel sweetness), but I found the taste somewhat unsatisfying and the palate a bit thin. I’ll have to rate the cask version soon, because I was somewhat disappointed. RPillsbury (112), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Mar 20, 2008 Bottle. This one isn’t as good as the cask version. The aroma is nice with a bit of roast malt to it but I think the flavour doesn’t live up to it. I also found it a bit too thin. OStreetBrewery (100), Wellington, New Zealand Mar 18, 2008 Pours a burnished gold with a tight white head. Aroma features the classic Fullers yeast nose of orange fruit, crisp warm malt and a faint hint of tangy hop. On the palate there is sweet malt reminiscent of baking, orange fruit and a balanced finish of malt, citrus fruit and gentle bitterness. HughConway (364), Alabama, USA Mar 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours Light Copper thick white head. Nice hop aroma. Hope taste with sweet aftertaste. Light finish. gunnfryd (3539), Kristiansand, Norway Mar 16, 2008 Bottle. golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, hop. Flavour is fruit, malt, hop, caramel. Nice and easy drinkable beer. ChrisTurner (202), Melbourne, Australia Mar 12, 2008 Bottle -- Pours copper with a modest off-white sudsy head without much retention but lots of lacing. Beautiful malty caramel aroma. Smooth medium mouthfeel. Delicous flavour with lots of malt with a roasted edge. Nice bitter edge towards the end. Very cosy. Wegro (218), Fresno, California, USA Mar 9, 2008 On tap. Smells yeasty with some hint of spice. Pours a beautiful caramel brownish color. Flavor is totally well balanced between fruity esters and caramel malt. Goes down smooth and as it warms it has a really great fruitiness going on. Really well put together.
