Bottled. Superb bitter indeed, however, not as good as Fullers ESB. Another good session beer.

This is a great, drinkable bitter. It is a deep, faintly reddish amber with a decent, off-white head that dissipates steadily at first but leaves a permanent medium head for the rest of the drink, along with some fairly nice, even lace. It is incredibly balanced and smooth, with few individual elements junping out at you but all blending incredibly well. There is a faint fruitiness and faint vanilla note in the final finish, but the bottom line is that this has a perfectly smooth, drinkable and balanced aroma and taste that scream "beer."

Pours brown amber with fluffy white head. Decent brown sugar/maple aroma with a bit of sour apple. The flavor is quite thin, although what’s there is pretty good: spicy, sweet, woody, maple, toffee, slight citrus hoppiness. Light bodied and drinkable, but certainly nothing to write home about.

Draft: clear or nearly clear amber. Aroma is dicetyl, floral, spicy, caramel, wood. Medium to light body, very drinkable but not all that enjoyable.

Appearance: amber reddish-orange color. Lively bubbles. Great head, ivory foam, some rocky and persistent. Aroma: toast malts and intensive candy. Reminiscences of sponge cake, toffee, vanilla, peaches, red apples, oranges and mango. Sweet smells, some smoked and toasty. Floral-hoppy some resinous. Flavor: nutty, exquisite London’s bitterness, toasty malty, butterscotch, candy and sweet. Several and intensive dry-hoppy, floral, some citric, persistent and herby touches. Dry-fruits, stone peaches and peel red apple. Too, orange reminiscences. Malty and nutty aftertastes. Palate: medium body, silky texture. Medium carbonation. Very advisable.

330 ml, bb 10/Mar/07. Clear copper with small but lasting head. Spicy caramel nose. Rich caramel taste slowly becomes earth-spicy toasted nut, slightly sour pecan, then lightly bittersweet earth-and-grass on the finish. Palate is smooth, light medium, slightly watery and highly sessionable.

Bottle. Amber body, small white head with lacing, English hop nose. Mildly hoppy, moderately sweet caramel, earthy, some finishing bitterness.
