A staple session ale in greater London for sure. Poured a medium amber color with a smaller off white head. Aroma is slightly lacking, with fruits and undertones of hops. Flavours of bitter fruit, caramel, and hops. Very clean taste with crisp finish. Even better on cask.

The aroma is very weak like a pilsner. Same is the appearance very boring, the flavor is actually very suprising - you can actually taste a bit of hops!

Nice sweet flavor and aroma. Some good hops in the finish, but mostly dominated by sweet characters, almost too much...almost.

Had this beer on 10/4/2003. Aroma is sweet and a bit wine like. Color is a bright clear golden brown with good carbonation and nice head. Taste is clean and bitter. Starting with light/medium body it goes down crisp. Finish comes on with bright clean bitterness that is backed by a mild sweet malt flavor. Very drinkable beer.

Bottle. BB 11 Feb 08. Aroma of light caramel and grassy and floral hop. Orangy amber color with a beige head that ringed. Thin to medium body with mild carbonation. Bready caramel malt with mild bitter. Overall it does seem well balanced. Fruity notes run through it. Not really sweet at all. The finish is clean, primarily dry with a decent level of bitter. A British ESB with possibly less strong malt than many. Good, and better than remembered. Good to revisit.

50cl can from systembolaget. Nice clear amber brown with a smaller dense off-white head. Aroma is yeasty with a funky hoppy note that is slightly sour. Hint of caramel. Not a very thick or rich ale, light body and carbonation. Flavor is dry and balanced with a good spectrum of hops and clean bitter finish. Easy to session. Rerate: Draught at The Britannia Arms. Deep gold/light amber color with a dense, creamy head. Light aroma of caramel. Quite balanced and fruity tasting with sweet caramel and toffee malt flavors. Sweeter and less bitter than I recalled, with subtle but balanced hop flavor that finishes the beer. Medium bodied with light, creamy feeling carbonation. Makes even less impression this time around with the flavors themselves, but I can fully appreciate the balance and drinkability of this ale now that I am more versed in hoppier styles. love the touch that the Fullers yeast adds; something that I often miss in American pale ales.

I was very very dissapointed with this paticulare ale. The aroma smelt appaling, the flavour not much better. It looked a fair pint, but just did not taste great. I had it on tap, lets hope it was a bad pint
