Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA Aug 29, 2007 Bottle. Brilliant golden amber color. Med head/body. Malty, syrupy carmael aroma. Flavor is fairly crisp but not too dry. malt heavy, caramel, bread, hint of butterscotch. Well balanced. Good beer. yalnikim (776), Wellington, New Zealand Aug 29, 2007 Tasted 29/08/2007. Happy birthday Jacky the paki! 500ml bottle from Thorndon New World. Rich golden-hued bright beer with a finger-thick lacy white head (which finger, you ask? this little finger on the right). Slightly stewed aroma, possibly from the tropical transverse on the way out, but nevertheless it’s good - caramel and toffee, rich nuttiness, spicy orange-like hops... oh so typically English. Promises something quite sweet. More nuttiness shows through in the mouth, and it is indeed a sweet malt character. Spicy hops have lost a little freshness but it’s still tasty. A lot of hop flavour, which is pretty clean, and a long lingering bitterness that links well with a touch or two more than a touch of roast astringency. Orange-like hop flavours liger the longest. Definitely a 4+ beer, that’s just short of the mark after the journey. One wonders why anyone in London would bother to drink Youngs... HogcliffeLenny (162), Christchurch, Dorset, England Aug 26, 2007 Bottle 500ml. Another winner from Fullers. Pours a deep golden colour with a medium white head. The aroma was of spicy bread pudding with hoppy floral notes. It has a distinctive Fullers flavour which, I guess, is down to the type and mix of hops they use at Chiswick. Slightly thinner than Fullers ESB and not as sweet but this is a very smooth and drinkable ale that keeps the taste buds working, always looking for more. A very good session beer and at 4.7%ABV, there’s no reason to stop too soon!
I am told that the best way to enjoy a pint of London Pride is to go for half cask and half bottle. I will definitely try this next time I’m up Chiswick way. cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Aug 25, 2007 Great English Ale whether it be an ESB or Pale Ale it’s really fantastic. Burnt roasty aroma, buttery with a nice hop nose. Glorious copper pour with a fluffy white head and mediocre lacing. Hearty malt body, woody and bitter. Flavor is real grand. Lightly roasted malt, slightly burnt with a heavy smokiness I wasn’t expecting. Caramel with a slight butter flavor that is actually complimentary. Peaty and earthy balanced with some strong bittering hops. Good product from across the pond. Theis (3617), Denmark Aug 24, 2007 Bottle at Dæmningen - shared with Mette. Clear nutbrown - small white head. Taste & Aroma: Rasins, caramel, high malty, light hoppy, sweetness, light bitter- & sharpness. A classic !!! Jonte (801), Gothenburg, Sweden Aug 22, 2007 Updated: Apr 3, 2009On-Tap. Served in a London Pride pint glas. Orange/red color with a small and quite thick white head.
The aroma contains smells of bread, butter, cockies, caramel and some hoppy citrus. Malty, sweet taste and some lasting bitterness as well. Soft carbonation. Easy to drink, balanced and very enjoyable. puboflyons (589), New Hampshire, USA Aug 21, 2007 Expiration date 19 Nov 07. For my 100th rating, I figured I would rate a recipe from one of my favorite breweries. Pours a very nice reddish-bronze with a short-lived creamy head. Mild-medium aroma of hops. Noticeable but not overpowerng. Full-bodied mouth feel. I don’t notice any kind of carbonation. Floats gently down my throat with a subtle chaser of hops. I prefer the Fuller ESB but this one is a darn good brew too. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Aug 20, 2007 A good classic and one of the better widely-available beers. Remarkably, this is available on board many British Airways flights.
