AgedOak (74), Ohio, USA May 2, 2007 Pours a dull copper color with a very thin off-white head. A fruity aroma with slight hops and malts. Started and finished somewhat bitter. All in all pretty average. Not what I had expected. PattyBoy (302), North Liberty, Iowa, USA May 1, 2007 Pours amber, thin head. Strong fruity aroma. Flavor is malt, fruit. Hops are spicy. Lots of carbonation. Perhaps just a bit too much fruitiness, but this is still quite good. hammerbeck (101), Kentucky, USA Apr 30, 2007 Delicious! Very strong character with full body and bold flavor. Usually when somebody says that it means that the beer tastes like ass. This does not. I could -- and have -- drink these all night. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Apr 30, 2007 Light amber, with a ligth hop nose, and a dry bitter malt front followed quickly by a little bitter fruit hop. Dezzilu (211), Whitmore Lake, Michigan, USA Apr 20, 2007 In truth, I held very little hope for this beer after I poured it in the glass: there was little going on. It poured with such little head and only a pale bronze color. WHAT a shock when I started to drink: the flavor is complex and wonderful. The hops is somewhat overpowering, but definitely normal for this style of beer. But, unlike most English bitters, the finish is really tasty and deep and the aftertaste is quite plesant. I almost hate to say it, but the commerical description is right on the money (which doesn’t happen very often). Although I am not crazy about this style of beer, I would hightly recommend this bitter. Cheers. TheGrandMaster (1846), Auckland, New Zealand Apr 20, 2007 Bottle, pours a darkish amber with an off-white bubbly head. A strong malty aroma with sweet fruit. A complex palate, with the malt and the hop competing to dominate the mouth - the softish malt winning out at first, but the hop bitterness taking over through the finish. Not as good as a well kept cask, but still goes down very well. tarjei (1741), Bryne, Norway Apr 20, 2007 Bottle 500 ml. Clear copper color, off-white head. Sweet malt, not very hoppy, watery, and then a dry bitterness in the finish. Easy drinking, but very average beer.. onehotsexychic (101), Albany, New York, USA Apr 19, 2007 John thought it was GREAT, I thought it was a loser // But I guess it would be good for an English boozer....
