Bottled, 4.7%. Poured nice amber colour, small head with pleasing, but subtle spicy and fruity aroma. Body was good malty base, typical of the style but of a seemingly higher quality. Nice slightly bitter finish that gets better once you’ve finished. Very drinkable session ale – I hadn’t tasted this in a couple of years and I forgot how much I enjoyed it – more please!

(Draught at Bull & Bear, Stockholm, 4 March 2009) Dark amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with orange peel, apricots and a clean but fairly boring malt profile. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried apricots, orange and a slightly earthy bitterness in the finish. Medium body. Well balanced and tasty but not really outstanding.

[097-20061105] 500mL. Floral, metallic celery aroma. Clear, red-amber body with medium-lasting small creamy white head. Malty roast and raisin flavour with hints of chocolate in the aftertaste. Medium body. Nice togetherness! Wouldn’t mind coming across this in an actual British pub. (Remember remember the fifth of November...)

Bottle: Aroma is malty and fruity but not very strong. Pours a transparent orange with a small white head. Not a whole lot of flavor at the beginning of the taste. The bitter finish is where all the flavor lies. Some sweetness barely sneaks thru. As you drink, the sweetness begins to come thru more and more and the balance improves. 3.1 Re-rate: Virtually everything seems to be stronger and improverd this time. Stonger smell, stronger malt flavor. Hops don't seem to be as stong, but balance seems to have improved. 3.5

Bottle. Amber coloured with a slight white head. Sweet malt aroma with some dusty hops. The flavour had some biscuit malt, a hint of red fruit and a decent bitter finish. Slightly less sweet overall than recent examples of the cask version. Good.

$1.79 11.2 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a clear, rich ambery body with a full, frothy, white hear. Smell: Sweet-smelling, nutty aroma of toffee-coated toasted biscuits with a background note of fruit. Taste: Sweet, biscuit maltiness with a rising taste of dark, toasted toffee. Slight nuttiness. Pleasant cherry fruitiness perks up midway. Maybe a drop of vanilla. Subtly spicy, lightly earthy bitterness with a mild, mildly cleansing bitterness. Faint drying grassiness near the end. Still, the brew finishes on the sweet side. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A fairly tasty, easy-drinking English treat. Sure, it’s something to have pride in and sure, I’d have another (or four)!

Pours to a clean golden colored body with a thin white head that has decent sheet lacing. Tons of visible carbonation. The aroma has tons of sweet malts, dough, spicy hops. Very nice. The flavor is tea, lemon, sweet malts, nice light bitter hops. I don’t know how this doesn’t rate higher. It’s really smooth. This could be drank in the gallons. :) In fact, I wish I’d have bought a 6 pack of this instead of a single. The palate is really smooth and slick but not watery. Medium bodied. I recommend trying this. Do it... Do it...

Sweet and malty. Bit of cider, fruity hops. Bit of apple aroma. Very little head over deep orange amber. Low-smooth carb, medium silky body. Great balance of hops and malt, bitter and sweet. Nice nutty finish and smooth after. Great bitter - could drink it every day.
