Nice sweet flavor and aroma. Some good hops in the finish, but mostly dominated by sweet characters, almost too much...almost.

HANDPUMP: Nice deep amber color, not much of a head. Warm, round buttery malt with some hops. Weak and thin overall. This is a standard of British pubs, but not terribly impressive. I don’t see what all the excitement is about.

A light shade of copper for the colour with a thin (1 centimetre) tan head. The aroma is pretty nice, with a fairly strong hoppyness. Malt and some grassyness or mustyness is also noticable in the smell. The taste is another winner for Fuller's. Almost spot on for the style, it works out to a hoppy bitterness followed by a subtle maltyness. No other complex flavours are noticed either in the taste or palate, but I don't think it's a reason to complain. A pretty high alchol content for a bitter and it is noticable in the end with the bitterness. Pretty good beer, definately worth trying if you are a fan of the style! I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia.

Clear amber-copper colour with a moderate off-white head. Earthy aroma with a hint of peach. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is nutty & fruity, with a real nice bitterness to the finish. One of my favourite session bitters.

bottle - pours amber with a pretty nice offwhite head that stayed pretty well. Light aroma of caramel malts and some toffee, as well as some floral hops. Flavor is grainy with caramel and honey sweetness as well before the somewhat bitter floral hop finish. Palate is medium bodied and somewhat buttery. Would make a very drinkable session ale.

1pt 2.6fl.oz bottle, best before 27/July/02 drank on 2/22/02: Starts off dusty, ends bitter. For my preferences it is a little bland, but a quality brew nonetheless.

Bottle. Flavours are more distinct and complex (when compared with cask) with lots of earthy and caramel notes. In no way unpleasant but unexciting and the worst of the Fullers standard beers to my mind.

Pours a brilliantly clear copper red color and is topped by a frothy cream colored head that starts out a respectable two fingers thick. The aroma is nice; it is a good mix of hoppy, malty and fruity notes. I get aromatic notes of herbs, lemons, cherries, caramel and toffee. The taste is lightly sweet, and quite light on the palate. There is a nice herbal hoppiness to this beer up front and it carries through to the finish. The finish has a pleasing bitterness to it, but also has a bit of citrusy lemon character to it. The taste has notes of toffee, and caramel; this has a really nice maltiness to it that really compliments the hop notes quite well. This is an eminently quaffable beer that is really well balanced between the malt and the hops, though it is balanced towards the hoppy side of the spectrum.
