Aroma is quite malty and the same applies to the taste. Well balance bitterness at the end. This is another standard English ale in bottle which I’m starting to think taste all the same. I’m wondering if those beers should only be drink form a cask to truly appreciate them. Overall, this is not bad, nor good, just standard. eaglefan538 (2405), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Poured a golden to amber color with an ok head that provided some level of lacing. The aroma was of honey, grass, and caramel. The flavor followed suit, and really wasn’t all that special, definitely not worth import prices. Mouthfeel was right on par for the style. Snore. badlizard (2397), Berkeley, California, USA

Aroma – Malty aroma with some bittering hops. Very buttery in the aroma.
Appearance – Copper in color, lite head and clear.
Flavor – Had a decent bitter flavor with some good malts.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, Good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – Very easy to drink bitter ale. The buttery flavor was just right this was bitter but not so much it kicked you in the teeth.

I was actually stopping in to try Fullers summer ale but alas it was off. No harm done though as I realised I hadn’t rated this big name star. In beautiful condition, this better then most bitter was a deep amber colour with light beige head that fell away quickly. Full bodied with a succulent mouth feel. Smooth hops flavour complemented by fragrant bitterness. Lovely. Sigmund (2303), Hafrsfjord, Norway
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 13, 2006 500 ml bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. Served too cold. Brown / deep amber colour, decent head. Very moderate aroma, some malts and caramel, hints of old furniture. Malty flavour with tolerable hops, not sweet. Drinkable, but the cask conditioned version (from a WELL KEPT cask!) is definitely better than this!
