Honey colored, pours small white head, translucent. Aroma and flavor are dominated by malt, sweet and carmelly, bittering from the hops is there and somewhat balance the malt(not entirely). Dang gone I'm going to have to get to London again and have this one from the tap. JaBier (1261), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 8, 2009 On tap at the Pub at Polaris. Amber in color with a thin off-white head. Malty and fruity aroma that is sort of metallic. Tart fruit flavor up front, followed by a touch of malty sweetness and a bitter hop finish. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA

Aroma is light malt and hops with a easy drinking slightly bitter hoppy flavor.
Above average beer. crazyvin (1254), New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 10, 2004 although this beer was light in body and aroma I really enjoyed it. A nice hoppy/malt balance with a smooth finish. The appearance was slightly lacking being that this did not have much of a head. WISEGUY572 (1246), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 19, 2002 Clear dark reddish gold ale with crisp lacey head
floral citrus hoppiness but not quite the nose or taste of an American cascade hopped IPA. Good mouthfeel for a low 4.7 abv session beer. Bitter citrus hop and malt. I had this canned, bottled, and on tap at the factory. For some reason, the bottles are best. Brigadier (1246), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

When I saw this at the store for 75 cents I knew it was worth a gamble. If it turned out to be a drainpour you don’t get much cheaper than that. As it turns out I would have gone back for more if I were looking for a nice daily drinker. Like most ESBs it doesn’t have much flavor but what it does have is a nice sessionable property.
Aroma / Appearance - The head started small then began to surge inwards on itself. Below the amber body was pinned to the bottom of the glass for a few minutes. Grains, rye tost, and waxy grocery store chocolate created a nice but faint blend. Easy on the senses it was also somewhat forgettable.
Flavor / Palate - Light hops play against a base maltiness that mixes caramel and vanilla. For 75 cents you do not get much better than this. If I ever make it to England I would love to try the cask version to see how that adds flavor. I am sure it would only enhance the existing creaminess. SaintMatty (1236), Tallinn, Estonia
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 13, 2009 500ml Bottle - Copper/amber with a small foamy head. Biscuity malt aroma with some hints of citrus and hops. Malty taste with well balanced fruity and hoppy notes with elements of raisins and citrus. The hops are noticeable, but fairly subtle. Tasty and nicely balanced. haddonsman (1234), Derby, Derbyshire, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2004 Bottled, 4.7% Candied fruit and malts in the soft sweet nose, deep amber body with rapidly diminishing head. Satisfying crunch in the taste, those ever so sweet fruits combined with a hoppy nip and a restrained maltness in the finish. Oft derided oop north, this isn’t actualy bad. In fact, it’s good. I’m off to dat dare Lundun tomorrow so feel duty bound to try on draught. Outstanding? Indeed!
