| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Sep 29, 2006 Deep brown colour. Just like fullers Discovery, the aroma is full of flowers but it’s not as full. Wonderfully complex, very malty. Good hoppy balance in the finish. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 12, 2008 clear amber, quickly dissipating white head, respectable acing. mildly fruity nose, malty notes. flavor is malty with dry fruit notes, touch of hopiiness. medium bodied, dry finish. pretty fun to drink, but probably not sessionable for me. single bottle from binnys beverage depot in opland park. porterhouse (1163), Alna, Maine, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 28, 2008 (330 ml bottle (best before 6/12/08) from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank>Julio’s Liquors) Pours clear amber with three fingers of biscuit head that settles to a rocky cap. Aroma is mostly malty (egg, vanilla, caramel, maybe pumpkin) with some light piney hops. Mouthfeel is medium-full, fairly smooth, but quite prickly. Lots of heavy thick lacing. Flavor is quite bitter upfront - contrasting with Fuller’s ESB which is quite malt-forward. Bitterness overlays a rather weak malt profile - malt never really emerges even as it warms. Rather weak egg/vanilla/caramel taste. Bitterness continues on through finish and leaves a bit of an aftertaste. To me not on par with the ESB. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 1, 2004 Pours a clear copper with a frothy white head that leaves a lacing on the glass. Scent is surprsingly malty with a modest hop presence. Taste is fairly complex with a good malt backbone and a rich variety of hop flavor. Very good, though perhaps not as good as their ESB. RERATE: Sorry, didn’t fill out the overall impression section. First time that’s happened... OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 14, 2004 Amber colour with a bit of a pink tint. Mostly diminishing frothy off-white head. Caramel and possibly some cardboard aroma. Initially watery and lightly sweet, finishes thicker and with a pleasant floral, but unfortunately somewhat metallic bitterness. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA

I normally like bitters but I have always found this one to have a odd musty taste. Finishes dry. Cartoonkhaki (1150), Brantford, Ontario, Canada
