| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 10, 2008 Pours a clear pale copper with two fingers of creamy off-white head; nice lacing. The flavor is of dusty, fruity malt, minerals spicy/earthy hops. Light to medium-bodied and soft with a dry mineral finish. The flavor is of fruity, toasty caramel malt with a mildly spicy/earthy hop finish. Fairly fairly complex for 4.7% ABV and similar to Fullers ESB, but along with a decrease in ABV comes a downgrade in mouthfeel and flavor. It’s a solid session brew, but I can’t think of any reason that I’d choose this beer over their ESB. piscator34 (1130), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2005 Amber-caramel in colour with medium carbonation. Strong toffee aromas with some fruit in the background. I can recognize the Challenger hops in this one, as I often use them in my homebrewed bitters. Caramel malts dominate the palate, with a clean bittering quality providing some balance. Not really enough hop contribution in the flavor department, but a a solid bitter nonetheless.
