Bready, nutty, malty flavour, with just enough hops for balance. Quite good.

Another beer I tasted, before I knew about RateBeer. Years ago it displayed fine character, with a sweet full bodied palate and rounded fruity hop bitterness. This sample faired along my rating for ESB (in fact I have the recipe for both, and this did not come close), disappointing. I must have had bad samples because the aroma in this one was like the seaside, with little malt sweetness. Palate was generous with a little malt sweetness, roast grains about the side, and a short slick aftertaste. No hop tones, fruity esters or malt driven definition. Hopefully, just a bad batch!

Bottle. Clear copper colour with medium white mostly diminishing head. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet bitter flavor with lasting bitter finish.

Typically when I think of a pale ale, I think in the veins of Alpha King or burning river, not of the English variety. Even my first of the ’great’ English breweries pale, Sam Smith’s, I was left with an unenjoyed taste. Perhaps it was the warmth. However, with this beer, I was left with the tastes of slightly overripe orchard fruits, backed up with nice, gentle aromatic hops and bittering hops and a meaty malt backbone. In all, I enjoyed this beer, much to my chagrin.

Pours a copperish brown with a cream colored head. The aroma has a touch of caramel malt and some light fruitiness. The flavor is initially caramelly sweet and finishes with a moderate bit of hop bitterness.

Ok. Sweet malts on the nose. Decent maltiness in flavor, but hardly any hop presence. Gets sour in the finish.

From the tap poured dark amber with a fair amount of head. Nice solid flavor, a little watery with a good finish.
