This is a pretty complete beer. Smooth and hoppy, sweet and bitter, a fullbodied aroma that lets no-one down.

Not a pale ale fan but this is one that you could handle a session with. I am very impressed with Fullers overall and this one I could recomend. If you want overwhelming hops this is not your beer

From a bottle at yeoman’s Road Pub in Tampa. Thin head which recedes quickly. Smelled of old growth fruit orchard. Malty and slightly sweet taste in the front fading to bitter with a surprising amount of hop. Highly drinkable.

Amber in color. Caramel and spicy. Very nice beer. The hoppy bitterness is very pleasant. Dry finish.

Dozens of this brew have passed through my kidneys. Not as impressive as the 1845 but I like this light nutty crisp beer. Page 178 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 401 out 500 Classic Brews to go.

[Sampled in 2005.] Really an enjoyable beer at that day. Used it as an ingredient in an almondcake which the kids swallowed in seconds. Lots of doses of anything which is good for a london porter. Sweetness and softness. Hops!

Pours to a clean golden colored body with a thin white head that has decent sheet lacing. Tons of visible carbonation. The aroma has tons of sweet malts, dough, spicy hops. Very nice. The flavor is tea, lemon, sweet malts, nice light bitter hops. I don’t know how this doesn’t rate higher. It’s really smooth. This could be drank in the gallons. :) In fact, I wish I’d have bought a 6 pack of this instead of a single. The palate is really smooth and slick but not watery. Medium bodied. I recommend trying this. Do it... Do it...
