50cl bottle, as shown. Clear, deep golden amber colour, wee soft head but generous retention. Aroma of orchard fruit and fudge. Medium to low carbonation. Citrus notes and grassy hops dominate the taste, with an agreeably dry, resinous finish and (lasting) aftertaste. Medium body and mouthfeel. A little fresher, and a little less characterful, than the same company’s "ESB" - very obviously a perfect session beer: Well-balanced, fruity, just a smooth drink.

Bottle. Clear, light amber color with a white head. Sweet malt flavor and aroma with some fruitiness. Balanced with some hops bitterness. It’s smooth with a light bitter, dry finish. An enjoyable beer.

Copper / brown colour with a thin off-white head. Malty aroma. Flavour: Sweet and slightly fruity. Medium bodied with low to average carbonation and a nice hoppy bitterness which is especially present in the dry and crisp finish. A very enjoyable beer. - 500ml brown bottle.

Slightly old bottle, so I got it on discount. Pours a beautiful deep amber color with a nice 1cm white creamy-looking head. This beer is fun to look at. Aroma: hops, grass, hay. Very subtle. Taste: Nicely bitter! This beer conjures up for me a cozy English pub with a wood fire. It is excellent with artisan cheese (I had goat) and a sweet meat pie (venison). Well-balanced, if a bit on the plain side. Palate: Smooth and classic. Overall: This is a wonderful session beer. It’s classic enough to not be complicated, but still be enjoyable. This is an example of English understatement in the best tradition. Not quite as polished as their ESB, but I’d gladly seek it out. I’m anxious to try the draught version as soon as I can.
