Clear copper coloured with pillowy white head that recedes to cover with good strong lacing and plenty of visible carbonation. Maltiness dominates the flavour without being at all sweet. Nice brown malt flavour with decent balancing bitterness that never overpowers. Carbonation is playful on the tongue and body is fairly light. Definitely a thirst-quenching session-style bitter. If I could get this beer here, it would be a mainstay in my fridge. Bottle (4.7%). Thanks CapFlu. KarmanGhia (276), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

The nose is hoppy and a bit fruity, but not very strong. The hops are very distinct giving the beer a dry fruity sweetness. I think of cherries at first. Then a nice bitterness hits, followed by a trailing off aftertaste of malts. As good as expected. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Poured nice amber colour, small head with pleasing, but subtle spicy and fruity aroma. Body was good malty base, typical of the style but of a seemingly higher quality. Nice slightly bitter finish that gets better once you’ve finished. Very drinkable session ale – I hadn’t tasted this in a couple of years and I forgot how much I enjoyed it – more please! loomis (43), Ohio, USA

I found this to be very mild with a slightly bitter end. Goes down fast and easy, quite possibly due to it's buttery mouthfeel. Quite refreshing. No complaints really at all. A very good British Ale. Slightly bitter aftertaste, but still easy to drink. Enjoyed this one more and more through the glass. gilvanblight (397), Windsor, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 8, 2007 Very red pour like old rust. Clear and filtered. Weak head just skimming the surface. Very stong scent of malts with some flowery scents and licorice mixed with something sweet. Very thick and flavourful mouth. Definate licorice, lots of malts, flowers again and a hint of spice (cinamon?) Very rich and filling. A slight taste of nuts and sweet raisins in the finish. A slight lingering bite on the tonge. A rather nice ale. Tweety83 (26), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA

Bronze.
Mint, english hops, caramel, herbs butter and apricot in the aroma.
Apricot, orange, herbs, lemon and pine. Finely balanced. Light bodied. Velvety texture.
This hit the spot. I would have had a few more if they weren’t five bucks per can.
