| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2003 A light shade of copper for the colour with a thin (1 centimetre) tan head. The aroma is pretty nice, with a fairly strong hoppyness. Malt and some grassyness or mustyness is also noticable in the smell. The taste is another winner for Fuller's. Almost spot on for the style, it works out to a hoppy bitterness followed by a subtle maltyness. No other complex flavours are noticed either in the taste or palate, but I don't think it's a reason to complain. A pretty high alchol content for a bitter and it is noticable in the end with the bitterness. Pretty good beer, definately worth trying if you are a fan of the style! I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia. WabashMan (817), Noblesville, Indiana, USA

The official style of this one is "bitter" though Fullers wants to call it a Pale. It seems to be somewhere in between. Less bitter than the Fullers ESB, but a little more than most English pales. The flavor is pretty good on this one, with some hoppiness and a slight "crispness" to it. An all around good beer! rudolf (1783), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 8, 2006 500 ml bottle. Poured old copper colour, clear, with a moderate bubbly off white head. Head subsided soon leaving a ring of small bubbles and a spotty lacing. Aroma is of freshly baked bread with some lemony hops. Flavour of lightly roasted malt, a touch of nutty toffee, nicely balanced with fruity hops. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Lingering dry finish with mild fruity hop bitterness. Very, very good bitter, that begs for more. Bravo Fullers! seeknay36 (109), Port Jefferson Station, New York, USA

Medium nectar with ample residual effers. Flavors are classic old world. Musty biscuits, hay, and tobacco. Creamy malt w/ perfect hops to ballance. Finish has a nice bittering. Overall: i liked it/worthy of a second bottle. Refreshing yet complex.
