KyotoLefty (1370), Kyoto, Japan Sep 7, 2009 Draught at the Old Toad. Malt centered and fruity, with cereal grains, cherry, and gumballs. Nice hop finish; good balance. Not very exciting in this version, though. zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Aug 30, 2009 (draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Copper in color with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with some nice hints of caramel. Flavor is much the same. Caramel malts and a lightly bitter middle. Finish is a little odd and funky with some dry bitter hops. Not bad, but not great. mirjukka (695), LOHJA, Finland Apr 18, 2009 keg 120109 Kitty’s Helsinki amber white head taste: first fudge nuts pleasant afterbitterness FatPhil (3443), Espoo, Finland Apr 4, 2009 Keg (Kitty’s, Helsinki)
Simple grainy malty arom. Decent roasty taste, a bit burnt. Fairly pleasant, but a bit keggy - go for the cask version instead if you can. imdownthepub (5086), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Mar 2, 2009 Bottled, 500ml, pasteurised. Copper with white head. Carries many of the Fullers bottled beer characteristics, boiled caramel toffee notes, slightly tinny, but also gets ovr a malty fruity note that freshens it up a little. Otherwise fairly basic. oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland Feb 2, 2009 Draught@Kitty’s, Helsinki. Deep ambery brown colour, small beige head. Aroma is varamel malts, some slight wooden notes as well as mild grains. Flavour is at first wooden but gets a huge kick of licorice, which hides pretty much the other stuff. Mild spicyness as well. Very pleasant and different though. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Jan 18, 2009 Draught@Rotterdam, Helsinki.
Clear copper brown color, small beige head. Caramelly, nutty and a bit lemony nose - not outstanding. Medium-bodied. Nutty caramelly with good late bitterness. Standard "ok" filtered UK Ale. austone (998), Turku; Pori, Finland Jan 13, 2009 Draught at Mallaskukko, Turku. Dark copper, small & thin lasting head. Caramel and little dried fruits in the aroma, pretty low on hops. Rusty, even a bit brewing mashy flavor, strong glued-on tangy hoppiness, little pine and toffee maltiness. Quite coarse brew. Light to medium bodied, strong average carbonation. Overall too stuffy and unbalanced.
