[Sampled in 2005.] A true Fuller caused by the yeast. Fullbodied and nice bitter, soft and some spices.

courtesy of oh6gdx - clear and bright ruby-brown colour with a little foam made of big bubbles; nice lace; impressive nutty, malty and woody nose with notes of almonds in the background; low carbonation and a good, regualr malt body; a late bitterness before a long nutty, malty finish - brilliant

15 Jul 2007 Bottle 500ml. A satisfying aroma of malts, nuts and dried fruit. Pours a lovely copper red with a good tan head. Lovely flavours, with the malt and hops shining through and blending well with nutty, fruity flavours, and a hint of deep roast coffee. A good full body and good carbonation. Smooth on the palate with delicious lingering tastes. A fine strong ale from Fullers. Good all year round. 13 Jan 2008 Draft pint at The Carpenters Arms, Bransgore, Dorset. Same pour and look, although the head was smaller and did not last long. However, this was altogether a different beer. It was nowhere near as tasty as the bottled version and seemed somewhat thinner. If I was rating the draft pint alone, I would say aroma 5, appearance 3, flavour 7, palate 3 and overall 14. It was a bit of a let down, really.

Chestnut coloured with a slight white head. Aroma of toffee, molasses and mincemeat. Flavour was of Christmas cake with plenty of nuts. Finish was bitter to offset all the sweetness. Very enjoyable.

Clear copper with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, butter, brown sugar and honey. Medium body, sweetish flavour of bush honey, nuts, earthy spicy hops. Very good, quite similar to Jämtlands Tiotaggare.

Looks amazing - deep ruby amber with a firm off-white head. Strong nose of rich tea biscuits, honey and slight raisins. Flavous is also good, with a well-rounded combination of sweet malty fruit developing into a thirst-quenching, lasting bitter palate. A very nice beer - can Fullers do no wrong?

(500ml bottle) Rich, caramellish and pretty strong aroma. Nutty and little dry taste with a long and good aftertaste. Pretty full and nice winter ale, gives you a warm feeling.
